Mike started as a graduate of the Navy Drug and Alcohol School in September of 1989. Mike was a counselor for the military for 6 years prior to his retirement from the Navy. During this period of time, Mike not only counseled active duty personal but was the direct liaison for the Admiral overseeing the Fleet Training Center San Diego. Mike received education in Anger Management, Conflict Resolution, and Communication Skills before leaving the service.
As well as his military education, Mike, soon after retirement, started working in the Domestic violence field. Mike has a strong belief that all clients need to be dealt with individually and as a whole person not just someone with a “disease.”
Mike has worked at many different treatment programs over the years in many modalities, including social model, therapeutic model, and medical model programs. Mike has worked at several levels of programs, from counselor to clinical supervisor but finds his passion working directly with clients.
After 38+ years in recovery, Mike finds his passion is based on a spiritual life built on Church, a 12-Step program, and community involvement. Mike is currently actively enrolled in college working towards his B.A. in Religious Sciences. As a single parent, Mike enjoys any activity that involves spending time with his daughter, motorcycle (Harley) riding, camping, beaches, and horseback riding.
