Jaycee Edmiston, AMFT #145281
Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (#145281)
I am a Registered Associate Marriage and Family therapist (#145281) working with adult individuals struggling with substance use, depression, anxiety, transitional issues, interpersonal conflict, and trauma histories. I graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Alabama in Public Relations and earned a master’s degree in clinical psychology from Pepperdine University. I arrived at the mental health profession after nearly a decade working in a corporate job within the entertainment industry, with a renewed sense of purpose, and deep compassion for distressing symptoms that can stem from destructive behavioral patterns, a disconnected relationship with self or others, and the uncertainty and pressure of modern-day life. While in training for my master’s degree, I worked with adults and couples coping with a range of issues, with an emphasis on depression, anxiety, and developmental trauma. I have worked in a residential setting with adolescents and gained experience in substance use/ recovery model, eating disorders/ disordered eating, and treating co-occurring diagnoses.
I work from an Existential framework, focusing on developing acceptance and understanding of the human condition, and exploring purpose, meaning, and personal responsibility so that clients can live more aligned with their unique highest values and engage authentically with the world. Utilizing evidence-based modalities like Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Dialectical Behavioral therapy (DBT), shared in a warm and nonjudgmental space, clients are encouraged to make meaning and free themselves from rigid and self-critical thought /behavioral patterns, with tangible tools that cultivate direction and improved functioning.
