If you or a loved one is using Aetna, you’re probably wondering how much of your mental health and substance abuse rehab it will cover. The good news is that, like all insurance plans in the United States, Aetna is required to cover your mental health treatment and substance use disorder treatment services. Unfortunately, conditions like being in-network, deductibles, and copays do apply.
Compassion Recovery is in network for Aetna and all other major health insurance providers in the United States. That means you can attend our inpatient and outpatient rehab and mental health services for maximum coverage with your Aetna plan. You can keep reading to learn more. Or contact us directly at 909-314-1097 for a free consultation.
Aetna Insurance is one the largest insurance providers in the United States. In fact, with just over 22 million people using its care for medical insurance, Aetna is second to only a few competitors. This means that it has a large network, with over 5,700 hospitals and care facilities and 690,000 primary care and healthcare specialists in its network. It also offers extensive support for mental and behavioral health treatment including substance use disorders and mental health disorders.
In fact, providing your service is in network and recommended by your doctor, Aetna will cover almost everything. However, Aetna does not cover any mental health services at all if they are not in the network. You’ll also need pre-approval for all but emergency services or emergency admissions.
Aetna offers significant coverage for substance use disorder treatment under the same umbrella of treatment as its mental health treatment. Aetna is also very open to ensuring that patients get the mental health treatment they need, providing it’s from an in-network provider.
Inpatient and outpatient detox, including clinical stays and medication, covered with a 50% copay + your deductible.
Stay in a facility for as long as you need, with coverage starting from 50% coinsurance + your deductible.
Aetna will help you move into an aftercare program if you’re not in one already, with rates starting from a 50% copay.
Aetna is a great insurance provider to have on your side if you want substance use disorder treatment or rehab. However, the most common plans (E.g., Bronze) have high deductibles and a 50% copay, which means you will pay a large amount out of pocket.
Aetna specifically supports dual diagnosis treatment. In fact, Aetna will work with you during the diagnosis stage to ensure you get into a dual diagnosis program if you need it. Compassion Recovery offers a fully in-network dual diagnosis program, where you receive treatment for mental health and substance use disorders together, with a single trajectory.
You treat the most pressing issues first and remove blockers for treatment,
You’re treating holistically, with understanding that mental health plays into substance abuse and substance abuse exacerbates mental health issues.
You’re given a program that understands your total health, mental health, and trauma and takes everything into account.
You pay deductibles and coinsurance once which can greatly reduce costs over following a multiple-track treatment schedule.
Aetna covers dual diagnosis treatment, which means you can easily seek out a program like the one at Compassion that roles everything you need into one program. In addition, because Aetna doesn’t cap the number of days you’ll receive reimbursement for treatment like many competitors, you can stay in the program for as long as you need, without worrying about costs increasing.
Like other insurance providers, your costs with Aetna will greatly vary depending on the plan you choose. Here, you’ll have to consider your deductible and your copay or coinsurance. For Aetna, there are not usually other costs or exceptions.
Therefore, you can expect the following rates:
Bronze Plan – Aetna’s Bronze Plan offers the highest deductible but the lowest monthly rates. Here, you’ll have a deductible of $7,500 or $15,000 for a family plan. If you’re getting inpatient care, you’ll pay $50 per visit and a 50% copay for services. The deductible does not apply. On the other hand, if you go to inpatient services you’ll pay a 50% copay + deductible. This means that you’ll pay the full rate until your total fees are at $15,000, unless you’ve already used the deductible on other medical care.
Silver Plan – Aetna’s Silver Plan offers a lower deductible and cheaper rates and copays. Here, you can expect a deductible of $5,900 for an individual plan and $11,800 for a family plan. Your inpatient fees are $40 per office visit and a 40% copay for services, but the deductible does not apply. On the other hand, inpatient services have a 40% copay.
Gold Plan – Aetna’s Gold Plan further reduces the deductible and copay for mental health and rehab care. Your deductible is $1,500 for an individual plan and $3,000 for a family plan. You’ll also pay $30 per office visit for outpatient visits and this does not apply to the deductible. Outpatient services and inpatient services have a 25% copay.
Platinum Plan – Aetna’s Platinum Plan offers the most comprehensive coverage at the lowest rates. You will pay a $15 copay per visit for outpatient services. This means you’ll pay roughly $15 per day, no matter what treatment you’re getting. For inpatient services, that rises to $225 per day. However, there is no deductible.
Like other insurance providers, your costs with Aetna will greatly vary depending on the plan you choose. Here, you’ll have to consider your deductible and your copay or coinsurance. For Aetna, there are not usually other costs or exceptions.
Therefore, you can expect the following rates:
Compassion Recovery is fully in-network for Aetna. This means you can get coverage for any of our services including:
We’ll also work with you to help you understand the best treatment options for your needs, so you can choose the program that’s a best fit for you. And, we’ll work with you to follow up and ensure that you move into the treatment you need for aftercare, and counseling as you graduate our program.
Aetna makes it easy to get started with mental health treatment and substance abuse recovery treatment. However, you’ll need to ensure your rehab center is in-network. You’ll also need pre-approval for your services.
Still, you’ll have to take steps to ensure you get maximum coverage. You’ll also want to ensure that you’re attending an in-network provider, so you get coverage. If you’re ready to get help, Compassion Recovery is in-network for Aetna and here to help. Call us at 909-314-1097

Compassion Recovery
We firmly believe that the internet should be available and accessible to anyone, and are committed to providing a website that is accessible to the widest possible audience, regardless of circumstance and ability.
To fulfill this, we aim to adhere as strictly as possible to the World Wide Web Consortium’s (W3C) Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.1 (WCAG 2.1) at the AA level. These guidelines explain how to make web content accessible to people with a wide array of disabilities. Complying with those guidelines helps us ensure that the website is accessible to all people: blind people, people with motor impairments, visual impairment, cognitive disabilities, and more.
This website utilizes various technologies that are meant to make it as accessible as possible at all times. We utilize an accessibility interface that allows persons with specific disabilities to adjust the website’s UI (user interface) and design it to their personal needs.
Additionally, the website utilizes an AI-based application that runs in the background and optimizes its accessibility level constantly. This application remediates the website’s HTML, adapts Its functionality and behavior for screen-readers used by the blind users, and for keyboard functions used by individuals with motor impairments.
If you’ve found a malfunction or have ideas for improvement, we’ll be happy to hear from you. You can reach out to the website’s operators by using the following email
Our website implements the ARIA attributes (Accessible Rich Internet Applications) technique, alongside various different behavioral changes, to ensure blind users visiting with screen-readers are able to read, comprehend, and enjoy the website’s functions. As soon as a user with a screen-reader enters your site, they immediately receive a prompt to enter the Screen-Reader Profile so they can browse and operate your site effectively. Here’s how our website covers some of the most important screen-reader requirements, alongside console screenshots of code examples:
Screen-reader optimization: we run a background process that learns the website’s components from top to bottom, to ensure ongoing compliance even when updating the website. In this process, we provide screen-readers with meaningful data using the ARIA set of attributes. For example, we provide accurate form labels; descriptions for actionable icons (social media icons, search icons, cart icons, etc.); validation guidance for form inputs; element roles such as buttons, menus, modal dialogues (popups), and others. Additionally, the background process scans all the website’s images and provides an accurate and meaningful image-object-recognition-based description as an ALT (alternate text) tag for images that are not described. It will also extract texts that are embedded within the image, using an OCR (optical character recognition) technology. To turn on screen-reader adjustments at any time, users need only to press the Alt+1 keyboard combination. Screen-reader users also get automatic announcements to turn the Screen-reader mode on as soon as they enter the website.
These adjustments are compatible with all popular screen readers, including JAWS and NVDA.
Keyboard navigation optimization: The background process also adjusts the website’s HTML, and adds various behaviors using JavaScript code to make the website operable by the keyboard. This includes the ability to navigate the website using the Tab and Shift+Tab keys, operate dropdowns with the arrow keys, close them with Esc, trigger buttons and links using the Enter key, navigate between radio and checkbox elements using the arrow keys, and fill them in with the Spacebar or Enter key.Additionally, keyboard users will find quick-navigation and content-skip menus, available at any time by clicking Alt+1, or as the first elements of the site while navigating with the keyboard. The background process also handles triggered popups by moving the keyboard focus towards them as soon as they appear, and not allow the focus drift outside it.
Users can also use shortcuts such as “M” (menus), “H” (headings), “F” (forms), “B” (buttons), and “G” (graphics) to jump to specific elements.
We aim to support the widest array of browsers and assistive technologies as possible, so our users can choose the best fitting tools for them, with as few limitations as possible. Therefore, we have worked very hard to be able to support all major systems that comprise over 95% of the user market share including Google Chrome, Mozilla Firefox, Apple Safari, Opera and Microsoft Edge, JAWS and NVDA (screen readers).
Despite our very best efforts to allow anybody to adjust the website to their needs. There may still be pages or sections that are not fully accessible, are in the process of becoming accessible, or are lacking an adequate technological solution to make them accessible. Still, we are continually improving our accessibility, adding, updating and improving its options and features, and developing and adopting new technologies. All this is meant to reach the optimal level of accessibility, following technological advancements. For any assistance, please reach out to
